Kiwembe
Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer Lava Lava returns with a new single titled “Kiwembe,” a melodic record that explores the complicated and painful side of love.
Released in September 2026, “Kiwembe” takes its title from the Swahili word for razor blade, using the image as a metaphor for the way love can cut deeply and leave lasting emotional scars.
Lava Lava builds the song around the idea that heartbreak does not discriminate. Regardless of a person’s intelligence, wealth, experience or social standing, matters of the heart can still leave them vulnerable.
Produced by S2Kizzy and released under Bite Gang, the record combines Lava Lava’s smooth vocal delivery with the melodic storytelling associated with contemporary Bongo Flava. The production keeps the rhythm accessible while leaving enough room for the song’s emotional message to come through clearly.
Lyrically, “Kiwembe” also touches on betrayal and the complications that can arise when people believe they have found genuine love, only to discover that the relationship is not what they expected.
The release is accompanied by visual content, including an official visualizer, giving fans another way to experience the new song.
With “Kiwembe,” Lava Lava delivers a reflective Bongo Flava record that turns the painful realities of relationships into a relatable musical story.
