Nigerian singer and songwriter Simi returns to one of the standout songs from her catalogue with “Smile For Me (Acoustic),” a stripped-back reimagining of the beloved record from her 2017 album, Simisola.

Released on September 17, 2026, through Studio Brat, the acoustic version gives the song a fresh presentation while retaining the romantic sentiment that made the original memorable. The new rendition runs for just over three minutes and places greater emphasis on Simi’s vocals and songwriting.

Originally released as part of Simisola in 2017, “Smile For Me” was the 10th track on the 15-song album. The original version was produced by Oscar Heman-Ackah and became one of the recognisable songs from Simi’s early mainstream catalogue.

On the acoustic rendition, the production is pared back to create a more intimate atmosphere. Without the fuller arrangement of the original, Simi’s expressive delivery takes centre stage, giving the familiar love song a softer and more personal feel.

The release also offers longtime listeners an opportunity to experience a song from Simi’s earlier era through a different musical lens. Nearly ten years after Simisola, the acoustic version connects one of her established records with the more intimate performance style that has continued to feature in her artistry.

With its understated arrangement, warm vocals and familiar romantic theme, “Smile For Me (Acoustic)” gives Simi’s 2017 classic a refreshed 2026 treatment while preserving the heart of the original.

Listen to “Smile For Me (Acoustic)” by Simi and enjoy the new rendition of one of her classic records.
