Nigerian street-pop veteran Terry G returns with “AkpakO Bum Bum,” a high-energy Afrobeats single that brings the singer’s unmistakable street sound and animated delivery back to the forefront.

Released on July 17, 2026, through Key Kontrollerz Ltd, the standalone single marks another addition to Terry G’s extensive catalogue. The record is officially classified as Afrobeats and keeps the focus entirely on the veteran performer.

The title immediately connects the song to Terry G’s well-known “Akpako Master” persona, an identity that has remained closely associated with his music since the early stages of his career. On the new record, he embraces the energetic, street-oriented approach that has long characterised his sound.

“AkpakO Bum Bum” is built around an upbeat, percussion-driven groove, with Terry G delivering his vocals with the animated intensity that has become one of his trademarks. The song places more emphasis on rhythm, movement and personality than on a complex narrative, giving it a direct party-record character.

The release also carries a sense of continuity with Terry G’s earlier catalogue. His original “Akpako Bum Bum” dates back to 2011, when he famously reworked the instrumental associated with Chaka Demus & Pliers’ “Murder She Wrote” into his own freestyle-style version.

The 2026 release therefore brings the familiar title and “Akpako” identity into a new release era, while allowing Terry G to continue presenting the energetic street-pop sound that has defined much of his career.

With its lively rhythm, animated delivery and strong connection to Terry G’s musical identity, “AkpakO Bum Bum” gives longtime listeners another taste of the Akpako Master’s signature energy while introducing the sound to a newer audience.
