Nigerian DJ and producer DJ Tunez teams up with indigenous singer Terry Apala on a new single titled “Apala Groove,” bringing the traditional character of Apala music into a contemporary Afrobeats setting.

Released on October 1, 2026, “Apala Groove” continues the musical connection between DJ Tunez and Terry Apala following their previous collaboration, “Apala Disco.” The new record once again places Terry Apala’s distinctive vocal style over DJ Tunez’s modern production approach.

The song is built around the meeting point between traditional Apala rhythms and contemporary Afrobeats, allowing Terry Apala’s indigenous Yoruba delivery to remain a major part of the record while DJ Tunez provides a more modern rhythmic framework.

Terry Apala brings the deep, rhythmic vocal character associated with his stage name and musical identity, while the production keeps the record moving with a dance-oriented groove. Beatport classifies the release as African/Afrobeats and lists it at 130 BPM, giving the song a brisk tempo suited to its energetic direction.

The collaboration also arrives as DJ Tunez prepares his forthcoming project, In Tunez We Trust Vol. 1, which is scheduled for release in November 2026. “Apala Groove” therefore serves as another example of his continuing interest in combining contemporary production with distinctive Nigerian musical identities.

For Terry Apala, the record further demonstrates how his Apala-inspired sound can sit naturally within modern Nigerian music without losing its indigenous character. The result is a culturally rooted collaboration that connects an established traditional influence with a contemporary Afrobeats production style.

With its percussion-led groove, indigenous vocal delivery and modern Afrobeats foundation, “Apala Groove” gives DJ Tunez and Terry Apala another opportunity to celebrate Apala music while presenting it in a format suited to today’s listeners.
