French-Congolese singer and rapper Tiakola teams up with Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema on a cross-border collaboration titled “Best,” bringing together two distinct African sounds on a melodic record about love, commitment and the desire to become a better partner.
Released on September 25, 2026, “Best” appears on Tiakola’s second studio album, WpointM, a 17-track project that expands his sound across French rap, Afrobeats and influences from his Congolese heritage. The collaboration marks one of the album’s major international pairings.
On the record, Tiakola delivers his verses in French while Rema brings his distinctive Afropop and Afrobeat-infused style to the song. Their contrasting languages and approaches give “Best” a distinctly international character without taking away from its romantic core.
The song explores the complications that can come with love, including jealousy, busy lifestyles and personal shortcomings. Both artists frame the relationship around the desire to stay connected and improve, with Rema repeatedly presenting himself as someone trying to become “the best” for the woman he loves.
“Best” was produced by AOD and London, with additional production from Washy, while Joe La Porta handled mastering and 20cent the mixing. Tiakola and Rema are both credited as lyricists, alongside S.Pri Noir.
The collaboration also continues Tiakola’s growing connection with the wider African and international music scene. Ahead of its release, the song had already generated attention after Tiakola teased the collaboration in the visual for “Upa Solide.”
With Tiakola’s French melodic rap meeting Rema’s Nigerian Afropop delivery, “Best” creates a natural meeting point between two major contemporary African music scenes and adds another international collaboration to both artists’ catalogues.
